Tax Advice for British Expatriates & Migrants

Introduction - UK Tax Advice

This section of Exfin UK provides introductory tax information for British citizens who are not tax residents, or are considering an assignment overseas, and for visitors to the UK regarding the British tax system. Prompt access to professional tax advice is available through our Inquiry forms.

In our view, British expatriates should ideally have a tax briefing with a professional advisor before leaving the UK and at least several months prior to their return. There are a wide range of potential tax complexities and it is not possible to address them all within this website. Consequently, we have taken the approach of trying to provide some general background by addressing some of the more common taxation issues and tax FAQ's. Migrants or individuals who are going to be working in the UK, particularly if they have some flexibility around the working arrangements, should also definitely seek tax advice prior to their arrival.

Most British tax advisors have a domestic focus and it is important that you utilise tax advisors who are focussed and experienced on expatriate tax matters to ensure that you receive full and complete advice.
